Commercial director Steven Verhasselt is leaving Liege Airport after fifteen years, BASF and Evonik are stepping into a pilot project to vaccinate employees at the company against COVID-19 and tank storage company Vopak has started a joint venture with MOL.

The port authorities of Antwerp and Zeebrugge have not waited for the final merger to already unpack together with New Year's wishes. Seven large Flemish companies, including the Antwerp branches of BASF and Evonik, are participating in a pilot project to vaccinate employees at the company with the booster dose against COVID-19. These are companies where more than a thousand employees work on the same site. Only employees who perform a position that cannot be teleworked are eligible for the vaccine in the workplace. The choice of vaccination is voluntary. Entrepreneurial organization Voka is delighted with the possibility of rapid vaccination. (ML)

Steven Verhasselt, commercial director at Liege Airport, is leaving Liège airport after fifteen years. He started in 2006 as Cargo Development Manager Asia at Liege Airport. As commercial director, he was responsible not only for global freight development, but also for passengers and real estate. From January 2022, he will focus on cargo consultancy through his own company that he founded in September. (MDV)

At the proposal of the Flemish Minister of Mobility and Public Works Lydia Peeters, the Flemish government has decided to appoint Koen Anciaux as the new chairman of the board of directors of waterway manager The flemish waterway. Anciaux will replace Frieda Brepoels. Mark Andries has announced that he is relinquishing his directorship at Lantis, the principal of the Oosterweel connection. Minister Peeters nominates Marc Descheemaecker to take his place. (JD)

The action groups fighting Project One of chemical company INEOS do not accept the recent environmental permit for the plans. The NGOs will review the permit and take legal action. According to the protesters, Project One does not meet legal standards and there is uncertainty about the impact of the installation. It is not yet clear exactly what steps the groups will take. "We will review the permit and take appropriate legal action to continue fighting Project One," it said. (ML)
LOGISTICS NIVELLES -
At Logistics Nivelles in Nivelles, a distribution center that is responsible for the supply of Carrefour stores, the personnel representatives and the management have reached an agreement on a social plan. Due to the announced closure by October 2022, 549 jobs are threatened at Logistics Nivelles, which belongs to the international group Kuehne + Nagel. After the announcement, several strike actions took place. Management and trade unions have now agreed that a social plan from 2016 will serve as the basis for the future social plan. The staff receives an extra bonus for the end of the year and there is a job security guarantee until June. In return, the unions promise social peace at the site in Nivelles. (YDS)

The Flemish government is commissioning a study to determine the extent to which locks, weirs and drainage structures on the coast can withstand the impact of a thousand-year storm. After a tender, the contract was awarded to the specialized agency Lijn in Water from Lelystad (Netherlands). This is part of the safety assessment for the Coastal Safety Master Plan. (RJ)

The 'FSRU Challenger', which converts LNG into gas, will be renamed 'Bauhinia Spirit'. Regulators still have to approve the new plans within the joint venture. TotalEnergies is withdrawing its current application for a new permit for the Antwerp refinery. The current permit already expired this summer. But the chemical giant wants to answer the objections from the environmental movement against the previous application with a new license application. (BT)
